New Start

It has been way too long since I have written my last blog! There is so much to catch up on! Previously, I had mentioned about starting school soon, and I am glad to announce that my first week is completed! However, there are a couple things I want to share, that happened prior to school. Before I get into it, I just want to clarify my goals and aspirations over the coming years in my life. I’ll start off by saying I will still be cycling at the level and intensity as I have been. This past year has been my first year racing the big pro races across the US, and still being young, I will do whatever it takes for me to keep improving and be the best I can in the coming years. On top of that, I will now be going to school full time at SCAD, where I will be pursuing Fashion. I am so blessed to be able to go to one of the top fashions schools, and still be able to compete in cycling at the level I do. It was only one year ago, I was going through a really rough time. I was doing a lot of thinking, searching and contemplating of my future. It was no doubt, a true blessing from God, that He intervened, and that quick whirlwind of events took place that lead me to where I am today. Now all of a sudden, I find myself in a spectacular position in my life I never imagined I would be at! Things had gotten so low, and then catapulted upwards. In result, I am starting a new, important path in my life, and want to thank everyone who has helped get me here! With out further ado, I will now continue my blog.

As I got back from NYC in August, I had just enough days to pack, and be ready to head out once again for my next trip to Savannah. The morning that I left, the Anthem Sprint Reverse Triathlon was being held. I was so glad to be able to compete! It has always been my favorite tri. The weather was pretty bad before the race. The race was delayed, but thankfully the rain cleared up enough to continue and start the race. As the gun went off, I quickly fell a little bit off pace! Going into the transition I was sitting 4th, but I quickly took the lead after the first third of the bike course. Going into the swim, I thought I had a big enough gap, but second place was just about 2 minutes behind me! With my swim being my weak link, I was getting worried. It came down the wire as he was within about 10 meters of me towards the end. It took everything out of me, but I was super thankful to take first by just 9 seconds, with a finish time of an hour, one minute, 30 seconds. The course was wet, super windy and very hilly, so I was actually very happy with the time. It was a great way to end my time in Arizona! Now it was time for Georgia!

The travel day was long, but I was so glad when I finally arrived! I spent about five days in Savannah, before going to North Carolina for a SCAD Cycling Team training camp! The camp was just loads of fun. I met so many amazing people that I will get to ride with over the next years! The team is full of great people. Other then team bonding, we got to do some stellar training around Asheville, which, if you haven’t been, is breath taking! I was able to get too many photos this time, but I will definitely be going back. Anyways, there were so many amazing climbs that I loved and was bummed when I had to go back to the flatness of Savannah. However, school was about to start, so I was immensely excited!

Following arrival back to Savannah, I had a couple days to get situated into the dorm, which was perfect. My roommate, Ivan, is from Moscow, Russia, and is super awesome! Being here, for a week now, I can’t get over how much I love this school. I was talking with one of my friends about how it seems like a legit fairy tale school! Even being here for such short time, I have already became friends with so many extraordinary people. The school is so diverse with people from all over the world. On top of that, the buildings are all designed to perfection, and each dining area has really good food! Now to the best part is of course the classes! I am currently taking First Year Experience (standard first semester freshman course), Design 1, Drawing 1 and Art History 1! I am already learning so much, and my professors are Amazing. The school does give you a heavy work load, especially with cycling on top it! However, since I love everything I do, it’s no problem as well as I balance my time well. Any who, I thought I would type up a quick blog update since I haven’t typed one up in a little while! So there it is in a nutshell!
